Philly Fun...At Night...

So Saturday night brought us THIS:
So we thought we'd head to dinner in Philly to see the "Cherry & White" lights and celebrate my lovely Alma mater...TEMPLE U!  The only bummer was: there weren't that many lights!!  A few buildings were sparkling in red, but not as many as I thought (or that this picture suggested;)

But anyway...was I going to let a lack of lights ruin my dining experience??  Ummmm...no! :)  However, it almost got ruined due to the fact that the originally planned cheesesteak locations had lines coming out the ying yang! :)  So instead of juggeling cheesesteaks on paper plates, we headed to the Rittenhouse Square area to see what they had a-brewin, and stumbled on this place...

Coal Oven Pizza??  Yes, please!  WE LOVEEEEEED that the restaurant opened up and had tables pouring onto the sidewalk, especially on what turned out to be a GORGEOUS night!!!  We weren't lucky enough to snag one of these seats, but that's ok!  It was a pretty place on the inside too!

And needless to say, after 2 botched attempts to get cheesesteaks....we POUNCED on the menu and ordered ASAP!  So when I said "Let's get a large salad for the table"...I was UNAWARE it was going to be QUITEEEE this LARGE!!!!!!
They weren't messin around with that one!  However, we still managed to polish off a pretty good portion of that salad mountain!  We also split the risotto balls stuffed with mozzarella and bolognese sauce.  Yum!

And finally...the pizza!  MMMMMMMMMMM....soooooooo good!  Me & Scott split the "Pietro Classic", which was smoked mozzarella, prosciutto & arugula.  Sooooooooo smokey & salty! LOVEEEDDD THAT!  And our friends split that half sausage margarita (which I may or may not have snuck a piece of and could possibly say that it was really good too;)
Pizza crust can make or break a pizza (are you listening, West Coast??), but this one was chewy, smoky and flavorful...YUM!  Neither of those pizza had a prayer of surviving as leftovers;) hahahahahhahaa....

After dinner, we had a nice walk over to one of the best ice cream shops in Philly: Capo Giro...

Like "The Bent Spoon", Capo Giro uses local, seasonal ingredients to whip up some unique and yummy flavors.  PERFECT-O!

And I nearly gasped when I saw they had "NUTELLA" flavored gelato!!  So, I got a scoop of that and a scoop of Burnt Sugar.  Truth be told:  The Nutella was not as sweet as what I expect, as I expected the gelato to be a creamy, cold version of the many 'straight out of the jar' spoonfuls I've had;)  It tasted like dark chocolate & hazelnuts...which IT IS, but I just wished it was sweeter.  The burnt sugar, however, was like a flavor EXPLOSION the first time I tasted it!  SO GOOD! :)
So even without the sparkly red bridge & LARGE LITE UP TEMPLE "T" I thought I was going to see, we had a really fun & an unexpectedly PERFECT weather night!  LOVEEEEEE it!
We're off soon today to go celebrate my nieces 11th BIRTHDAY!!  Hope you have a relaxing Sunday!!

ps-My 2 1/2 yoga seminar was sooooooooooo wonderful (complete with candles and a thunderstorm!  Talk about 'relaxing'...well, until we started actually moving;)...but that capped off with an hour and a half of power yoga yesterday = a SOREEEEEEEEEEEEEE morning today!  Everything from my shoulders to my toes feels stretched:)   None to shabby;)
