For dinner I made reservations at "Bar Americain" on 52nd Street. http://www.baramericain.com/newyork.php After I saw the menu online, I was sold. He had so many items that he had made on "Throwdown", that it was a MUST :)
Everything we had was amazing, and I loved that they didn't rush you out of there! Our dinner lasted over 2 hours;)
Scott got the Vidalia onion soup for an appetizer (one of his favorites), and I got the Shrimp & Grits. We also split a grilled pizza with bacon, caramelized onions and toasted garlic. By this point, the waiter knew we weren't messing around:) hahahahhahaha....

Here was Scott's dinner: Philadelphia style strip steak with provolone cheese sauce and caramelized onions...

And here was my dinner: Mussels and fries in a green chile coconut broth. I knew I was having this as soon as I saw it on the menu because I completely drooled through the episode when he made it on "Throwdown":) hahahahahaha...(bad visual? sorry, it's true;)

And yes, we split a side of baked potato chips with blue cheese dip....Don't judge;)

(Apparently now they've actually become a pastry shop on Clinton Street since our visit...interesting... http://dt-works.net/)
Here was my extremely overexposed picture of the chocolate bread pudding with bacon creme sauce...yes, I said bacon... ;)

Shockingly, we actually woke up the next morning hungry! (must have been those 8 miles;) And we were ready, because I planned for us to make a trip to the Clinton Street Baking Company, site of the blueberry pancake throwdown (another of Scott's favorites). http://www.clintonstreetbaking.com/
And this brought us to the LONGGEEESSTTT time it's taken to get breakfast EVER! Let's just say we left our hotel a little before 10 and didn't sit down to breakfast until 12:30...and somehow, it was STILL worth it...
First we split a biscuit to try, which was also the size of my head...;)

And finally we had the signature blueberry pancakes with maple butter. How good we're these pancakes? Try "we waited in line for over 2 hours to be seated and had ZERO REGRETS" good!! They were like AIR, totally amazing! (and I'm not really a blueberry pancake person:)

Now wasn't that better than a post about salad and chicken?? :) However, now after posting all of these amazing dishes I'm ready to hop on a train to NY....right now! ;)
