Spiced Dinner AND Breakfast...

Last night's dinner was PERFECT for a cold & wintery night....we made a Moroccan Chickpea Chili....

Not only was this warm because it was...well....hot chili, but it was also warm from all of the great spices involved:  cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon & ginger...mmmmmmmmmmm....can you feel the warmth??:)

And this dinner went perfectly with half a slice of over toasted garlic naan.....yum!

And speaking of Naan...it was also part of my awesome lunch yesterday!  I had one of my veggie masala burgers on the other half slice of naan along with a boatload of spinach and a quarter of a sliced avocado....yummmmmmmmm!  Avocado & spinach 'cooled off' the super spicy burger so well;)  SOOO GOOD!

Which brings me to this morning....where the expected snow storm started a littlllle earlier and a littttle stronger then predicted....
And considering the early worst of it started to fall JUST as I was about to go warm up my tiny car, I thought I'd just play it safe and stay off the roads today!

Plus, I had the ultimate influence of a snuggling puppy;)
(thought you'd like that, Mom;)

Sooooo, that means today was: another breakfast with Regis & Kelly;)
And yes...more oatmeal, again;)  I had been JONESIN for more of Aarti's Super Spiced Pumpkin Oatmeal, so I knew that was going to be on the "lazy morning menu" today.  All was going well in 'lazy breakfast land' until a rummage through the cabinet and...GASP...we were OUT OF PUMPKIN.  How does this happen, world??  How!? ;)

Soooooooooo rather than strapping on my snow shoes...I went with the next best option in the cabinet:
Sweet Potato Oats???  OK!  I rinsed off a half cup of the sweet potatoes (hopefully washing off some of the "light syrup"...gross) and mashing them in the pan along with:
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Topped off with a little maple syrup, almond milk and a sprinkle of pumpkin granola = A PERFECTLY warm & spicy breakfast...
And I didn't even miss the pumpkin!  Thanks Sweet Potatoes;)

Sooooooooo I guess I'll fill you in on my workouts from yesterday AND today...ya know...while I'm here this morning and all;) ...

Tuesday Morning:  Body By Bethenny: 40 minute Yoga

Tuesday Night:  BBBethenny: 10 minute Weights Workout (with 8 pound weights) x 2 + 5 minute "Booty Blast" x 2 = 30 minutes.

Wednesday Morning:  30 minute Pure Power Yoga DVD  (still craving yoga this morning;)

That actually will probably be it for the day.  I only try to do Morning & Night exercises a couple times a week.  The rest, I just stick to whatever I can do.

Which will leave me plenty of time to dive into my new book today!  After the GUT WRENCH-FEST that was "Change of Heart"....I'm VERY happy to go along the 'historical thriller' route this time with:
Loved "The Da Vinci Code" & "Angels and Demons," so I was so glad I remembered to get this from the library yesterday (I'm only a year and a half late in reading it;) hahahhahahaha...
Anyway...have a great day wherever you are.  And if you're in this snow bank of a state:  BE CAREFUL!!!!
