Well...you really can't go wrong on a Friday night with some pizza from Maruca's in Hamilton, NJ....(oh yeah, and the best cheese fries EVER!)...
And, and I know I've teased about FINALLY getting one of these to post for awhile, but the single greatest cupcake of all time: A cupcake at the Bent Spoon:)
They only come in chocolate & vanilla, but really, what else do you need?? These just stand heads & tails above any other far-less superior cupcake, mainly because they taste like exactly what their made out of: Butter:) hahahahahahha....can't go wrong there! :)
Saturday turned out to be one of those absolutely PERFECT September days...warm-ish day, a cool & breezy night and barely any clouds in the sky! And what made it even better was that my gym started offering Saturday morning classes at our local park for the month of September, so I got to start off yesterday with a little "Pilates in the Park"...sooooooooo nice! It made the ab series a little easier when you looked up and all you saw was THIS...
Absolutely GORGEOUS!!! I already can't wait for "yoga in the park" next week!! :)
The rest of the day was spent with fall fun & football:) And while the boys were hootin and hollerin at the TV for their favorite teams, my friend & I made some goodies:) We made Ellie Krieger's Pumpkin Pie Muffins for "work breakfasts" during the week and another treat for "Sunday Morning Breakfast"....more on those tomorrow;)
And we also got started on dinner. And after Michigan came through with a victory (sorry, Steph!!), we sat down to a delicious FALL meal:) Our tradition is to pick our "main course" from the Amish market that morning. There were stuffed pork chops, filet mignon...and my choice: a Garlic Sausage:) hahahhaha...
For our sides, I made a Sweet Potato "Fancy Pancake," and I layered my sweet potato "wheel" with brown sugar & cinnamon butter and topped it with some caramelized onions. It did NOT come out as "fancy" as the white potato pancake....but it tasted just as good, none the less! You just had to serve it with a spoon rather than a pie slicer;)
And my friend took to her very FESTIVE Gooseberry Patch cookbook and made up some Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots:) Did we have an ORANGE meal, or WHAT???
Andddd...what could round out a "Fall Day" better then with a slice of Vermont Maple Creme Pie;)
I used the recipe in the "500 things to eat before it's too late," which consisted of:
- 3 Eggs
- 1/4 teap. black pepper
- 1 1/2 cups PURE Maple Syrup
- 3 Tablespoons of flour
You beat all the ingredients together and then pour it into a 9-inch pie crust and bake at 350. Now it said to bake it for 40 minutes...but I swear, I think it took about 2 hours!!! The thing would just NOT set! I even had to tent it with tin foil to keep it from burning. It DID taste delicious, but I'd chalk up a MUCH LONGER cooking time to accomplish this one;) (oh, and don't forget to mound it with fresh whipped cream....because it would be WRONG not too! ;)
A wonderful Saturday for sure! TODAY, however, is the antithesis of yesterday! It is cloudy and RAINY! Which is absolutely PERFECT for a "nowhere to go Sunday"...Hallelujah! Today shall consist of Cozy, Comfort Foods and some "Ghost Adventures"...a perfect Sunday to me! Hope you have a good one too!!
