My First Travel/Food Blog Vermont...

Here was my first attempt at Travel/Food Blogging in Vermont, October 2008. This trip will always hold a special place in my heart, because this was technically our "mini moon" after we got married! How did we end up in Vermont you ask?? By watching the Travel Channel and seeing a special on the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory, that's how! :) I have several other old blogs from Costa Rica, Canada & Paris, but I thought I'd start off with this one! Excuse the lack of photos...by Paris I was food snap happy!! :)

We started off at the Harpoon Brewery in Windsor where I got one of my favorite foods in the world (not even kidding!): a tuna melt! I was a happy girl...
Here was Scott with his fancy Harpoon UFO beer...

And me with my ROOT beer...cause I party like that!

We had an AMAZING dinner that night at a restaurant called "Michael's on the Hill." If I was hip to my blogging at the time, I would have had some pictures of the awesome squash soup, cheddar fritters, "Autumn vegetable gnocchi" and cheesecake with caramel pumpkin sauce we had...but alas, all I have is a picture of the restaurant....I HIGHLY recommend it if you ever find yourself near Waterbury! We even got to watch the sunset behind the mountains while we ate. It was heavenly! (or maybe that was just my newlywed glow??)

Again, my lack of pictures leads me to only post this, but it was the beautiful breakfast table at the Grunberg Hass B&B. We had everything from pumpkin cranberry bread to applesauce pancakes...so we got to skip lunch that day and just fill up on treats! :)
Our first stop was at Cold Hollow Cider Mill...
We had an apple cider and split this pumpkin roll with maple cream cheese. Did you hear me?? Maple cream cheese?? HELLO! SOO GOOD!
Our next snack stop of the day was at Green Mountain coffee...here's is a pic of the coffee/train station...
I got a pumpkin spice maple creme something or other drink and it was like drinking a warm cup of pumpkin pie. Mmmmmm....reminds me of fall. Can we just have fall year round??
Anyway, here was the view from the station....the foliage covered mountains were quite spectacular in person. From this picture, it kinda just looks like a parking lot...but you get the idea:)
Next up was the entire reason for our trip!
Scott and his favorite flavor:)...
After the tour, Scott got some triple caramel chunk ice cream. And by some miraculous feat, as if they knew I was coming, they had COCONUT seven layer bar ice cream. Pure joy:)

Next we headed up to the infamous flavor graveyard...here I am paying my respects to the departed Holy Cannoli....:)
Again, no pictures of dinner that night...but you MUST check out Arvad's in Waterbury for their Cabot quesadillas...sooooooo good!

The next day we took a chocolate tour at the Lake Champlain chocolate factory aka The BEST chocolate EVER. The highlight of which was sampling their Maple Butter Pecan ice cream. Dare I say it...it was better than Ben & Jerry's...
For dinner we headed to Burlington for a place we saw on "Bobby Flay's Throwdown", Bove's. Scott got the lasagna (which their known for) and I had the garlic pasta, which was COVERED in roasted garlic...we split them and both were fantastic!!!
We started off our next morning at a new B&B (minus the breakfast) and picked up our own at Cold Hollow Cider...Hot Apple Cider, apple cider donuts and a split apple turnover...breakfast of champions in my book!
That afternoon we toured the Cabot cheese factory...and sampled maybe one too many samples;)....

And then headed to Morse Farms Sugarhouse and sampled the maple syrup and had a "maple Cremee", which was basically a maple flavored soft ice cream....tasty!
Our dinner at the Cider House BBQ in Waterbury had 2 things worth noting: Cabot Mac & Cheese...TO DIE FOR!!! And for dessert, Oatmeal cookie pie...with pecan, oatmeal and coconut and topped off with a scoop of Ben & Jerry's vanilla:) Who could go wrong??

For breakfast our last morning, we went and ate with the Von Trapp's at the Trapp Family lodge...

I can't say it was the best breakfast I've ever had, but the view from our table made it worth it! (Feel like twirling around and singing yet??)

So that was it! Hope you enjoyed my first travel blog! :) More soon to follow!

Is that from memory? If so, Bravo! I can't remember my name some days.

Hi Donna! I love your travel report! I’m working with Green Mountain coffe, and I think you and your readers would like to know that we’re having a great sampling promotion going on! It is happening in Dallas right now until this Friday 02/19. Tell friends and family! Then between March 15 and 19 it happens in NYC. More cities coming up, so you can blog and tweet about this promotion, but don’t miss it!
