My Super Sweet NYC-Take 2...

Hey everyone!  Ya know those weekends where you feel like you're swooped out of your chair at work on Friday afternoon, spun around in a hurricane and then dropped back into your chair and it's suddenly Monday morning?

Yeah.  It was one of those weekendJ

Not that it wasn't a good time with some good eats!  My Mom & I started Saturday at Yankee Stadium, where we got to split a cheesesteak and the infamous garlic fries...
And why is there no food in the picture???  Because our fingers were SOOOO frozen while we were eating that I couldn't even feel them enough to work a camera!  Yes. It was THAT coldJ  I'd like to see ONE game in the near future that doesn't involve a tornado, freezing cold OR a 235,973,452 degree dayJ hahahahaha  A true rarity, apparentlyJ

So anyway, after we got swooped out of the stadium from the rain and wind, we knew we needed to go somewhere to warm up!  So we took the looooonggg ride from the Bronx to the East Village and headed tooooooo:
Yep!  The same DessertTruck where Scott & I tried their infamous Bacon Chocolate Bread Pudding when all they had was a cart on St. Mark's Street (ps-it's still there too!).  They moved up their digs to an actual cafe located, conveniently, right next to the BESTBLUEBERRYPANCAKESONEARTH on Clinton Street!  And on a day like Saturday (aka.-FREEZING and rainy), while I ain't got nothin but respect for the dessert trucks spread throughout the city, we were pretty grateful to be sitting INSIDE rather than eating bread pudding on the curbJ

And after a long day in the cold, I knew my Mom & I deserved a little "sampling party"...esp. after checking out this crazy menu!!

We'll start with my Mom's favorite treat of the day:  The warm molten cake filled with olive oil ganache, pistachios & topped with their homemade vanilla ice cream...

Everything at the DessertTruck is made to order, so everything comes out at the peak of freshness (and deliciousness!), which made this warm cake with a gooey center topped with cold ice cream even better!  My Mom really loved this because she said it wasn't too sweet, with just enough dark chocolate bitterness to compliment the sweet ice cream and salty pistachios.  So good!

And next.....are you ready???  Warm, fresh doughnuts right out of the fryer and rolled in sweet sugar while they were still piping hot.  How can that get better, you ask??
...well, how bout hand filling them with NUTELLA?????JJJ
These were some of the best doughnuts I've ever had! (ranked up there with my Coconut Cream one from Doughnut PlantJ) Not only because they were warm and completely melted in your mouth when you bit into them, but they were also soooooooo light and NOT GREASY!  Not to mention the Nutella filling just really put the icing on the doughnut cake!

And finally (yes...we weren't skimping on the treats!) my favorite of the trio:  Goat Cheese Cheesecake, topped with ROSEMARY caramel and the sweetest blackberries on the planetJ
Oh man...was this thing TO DIE FOR!  The cheesecake was as light as air, slightly tangy from the goat cheese and topped with the herb-y sweetness from the rosemary caramel.  I'm drooling.  It was amazing!!  It was hard to stop taking little bites from this...it was just WAY. TOO. GOODJ

And I washed all of those delicious treats down with a latte to warm ye ole frozen bones.  And best of all:  They offered the Rosemary caramel to put in your coffee!  Genius!
So that was our SaturdayJ  Sunday was spent in a whirlwind of the gym, creating some TREATS and a dinner at my in-lawsJ

And speaking of the gym, instead of posting my daily exercise, I thought I'd make one post to show you what I managed to squeeze in throughout the previous week.  And I figured what better day to post this then on a Monday, to hopefully get you (and MYSELF!) motivated for the new week aheadJ  Let me know what you think of the change!

Monday:  30 minutes dance/stretch/weights + 45 minute walk at lunch + 1 hour pilates class

Tuesday:  Body by Bethenny: 40 minute yoga

Thursday:  30 minute dance/stretch/weights

Friday:  Jillian yoga-Level 2 + 45 minute walk at lunch

Saturday:  Trudging through NYC (against the wind!!!J)

Sunday:  1 hour boxing class

And now it's time to start another weekJ  Hope you guys had a great weekend and are ready for Monday!  I'll be back tomorrow to show you the new treats I was whipping up yesterdayJ Have a great dayJ
