Easter Treats!

Well....I don't have much in the dinner department to show you today since I was out & about last night.  BUT I CAN show you what I brought out with me for dessert since it's TERRIBLY seasonally appropriate:

PEEPS Rice Krispie treats!

Now I'm not much of a PEEPS fan aside from the rouge stale one that got passed over and forgotten about at the bottom of the fridge, but PEEPS + Rice Krispies???  Well, THAT I can handleJ

The PEEPS treats start as all good treats do: By melting butterJ  I used about a half a cup and let it melt until it was slightly brown to give it that nice nutty, caramel-y taste!

Next in the pool...yes, it's time to add the PEEPS (about 40 of themJ)

What happened next was...um...none too pretty....

I know, it was sorta tragic really, but all told: it made a pretty pink marshmallow sauce to stir the rice krispies in to (about 6 cups of krispies)...
A sprinkle of sea salt and these were ready to go into the pan.  FYI-Make sure to spray your spatula with a little non-stick spray.  It's the only way to not have strings of marshmallow and krispies going all over your kitchenJ

Anyyyway...a sprinkle of Easter jimmies, an hour in the fridge and my PEEPS Treats were completeJ
I think next time I'm going to try to NOT stir all of the melted PEEPS together...maybe then the colors won't all blend together as muchJ  Don't get me wrong, the Pink PEEPS Treats WORKED, but a little psychedelic multi-color action would have been quite welcomeJ  I'll give it a whirl next time!

(Oh yeah...and they were really tasty too, but that's not really news now is it??J) hahahahahahahaha....

Well, it's Thursday, so I guess I'll bring my PEEPS Rice Krispie treats over to "Miz Helen's Full Plate Thursday":

AND Lisa's "Sweet as Sugar Cookies" blog:

Hope you have a great day everyone!  PEEPS out! (sorry, I couldn't help myselfJ)

These look awesome! I'll definitely have to try them for my mom when she comes into town. (She's quite the Peep fanatic.)

It seems that everyone loved your creative Easter idea in using Peeps to make a classic treat. You made the Top 5 for last week's Sweets for a Saturday. Congrats!!!

These are really cute! I came across your blog via Sweets for a Saturday (I was in the top 5 this week, too!) and noticed you're a fellow Jersey girl. I'm now a follower of your blog :)
