Hey everyone! I hope you guys had a wonnnnderrrrfullll Christmas :) Ours was aces from start to finish:) I wish I could do the past 48 hours all over again:)
And since I'm on about four hours sleep and still kinda shocked that I'm still somewhat upright, I'll give you a quick recap of our day:) Of course, opening gifts was first on the agenda...and whooooo got the most gifts??? Hmmmm...only the most spoiled member of our household:)...
...even though we got some pretty good stuff too...including a Trader Joe's goodies box for me from Santa;) Can we say "appropriate?" :)
While we opened gifts, we had THIS baking up in the oven....
The cinnamon & sugar wafting from the kitchen was the only thing that got us up from our wrapping paper coma and scurrying into the kitchen!
I had used sticky bun dough and rolled them into brown sugar & cinnamon Monkey bread 'nuggets' on Christmas Eve morning:
...and then baked them in the sticky bun "goo"...
....it was like the lazy man's sticky buns;)
I love a good "interactive" breakfasts that you only need to toss into the oven for Christmas morning :) hahahahhahahaa...we both dug into those sweet babies...no plates required:)
After breakfast, we lounged around and went through our gifts, hung out with my Mom & In laws, with everyone collectivily trying to wear Penny out;) hahahhahahhahaa.....and later, while she 'snacked' on her "lobster dinner"...
(tell me that's not the cutest thing ever...)
...we got done to the serious business of our Holiday dinner:) Since we have dinner at our house, we carry on my Grandmom's traditions. First we have salad with olives and oil. That's it. No clue why, but that plain salad always tastes so special and festive:)
And our twice-a-year Holiday treat: Homemade Raviolis. My Mom makes these babies from scratch....dough, cheese...the whole nine yards.
And they have always been delicious, but this year she REALLLLLLLLY knocked it out of the ballpark! They were just....SOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!! Even her gravy & meatballs were better then the best:) She did SUCH a good job! (Love you MOM! Now that I know you are reading this;) hahahahahhahahaha....could have helped that the gravy was made with those LOVELY San Marzano tomatoes:) hahahhahahaha....
OK...and I'm not gonna lie: One of the things we look forward to the MOST for our Christmas dinner is always our traditional Christmas "Wreath" seeded Italian bread....
How cute is that????
And my Mom got it about an hour after it came out of the oven this year! As if it's not awesome enough:) Love, love, loveeeeee this bread:) It's insane:)
And after some cookies and some of my Father-in-law's homemade Key Lime Pie (the best IN THE WORLD! Key West doesn't have anything on it!), we wrapped up Christmas 2010:) We had a wonderful day...and I'm happy to say our festivities are just starting, since we have lots 'o fun things planned on our week off:) I'm particularly excited that they're calling for a snowstorm in NJ tomorrow!!! Ya know what that means????? That means tomorrow's checklist shall include the 5 R's:
- Rest
- Relaxation
- Reading
- Rooting for the Chicago Bears
- Reheating the 8 versions of
carbspasta that we have in our fridge! Yeeeeha:)
We may just sneak some yoga & Wii in there too;) Hope you guys have a wonderful lounging day planned as well! I'm definitely in need of one!! :) hahahahhahaha....
And with that, I shall say commence collapsing and say: Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
