Hey everyone! Hope you guys had a nice weekend. Ours was very RELAXED around these parts, which is always so nice. We had fun enjoying St. Patty's day with Katie... including her first parade...in the SNOW!J
...and a finishing off of the March birthday celebrations. 34's lookin pretty good so farJ
Which we enjoyed at one of my favorite restaurants, Treno. We have about 800 Italian restaurants that I could throw a stone at from my front porch, but I just looovveeee me some Treno in Westmont, NJ. It's super cozy & the menu is unique, SEASONAL and DELICIOUS!
I started off with their special appetizer of the night: a meat & cheese platter with spicy green bean & cranberry couscous salad...
I loveeeeeeeeee me a m&c platter...it's such a great way to try lots of little bites! The green beans were a little spicy for me, but the couscous salad I DEVOURED!
And while it was VERY difficult NOT to order my BELOVED short-rib pizza (although, thankfully, my friend sent me home with a leftover slice!) I just had to try something new on the menu. So my friend & I played "half-sies,", as we shared this awesome roasted apple pizza with goat cheese crema & prosciutto (which totally put it over the top!)...
...and another favorite, the simple but spectacular spaghetti & meatballs! I'm convinced the pasta is homemade. It just has that little something to make it specialJ
And even though we had dessert waiting for us at home, the table couldn't resist on sampling a few goodies in the form of their scrumptious zeppoles...
...and the VERY festive mint brownie with delicious mint chocolate chip gelato. Yum & FUN!J
And yep, we rounded out the night with even MORE treatsJ And one of my ALL-TIME favorites: Creme Doughnuts from Eet Gud Bakery in Trenton, NJ. Some of THE. VERY. BEST...(only Beiler's Bakery is comparable!)
...and they make a mighty nice cake, no?? J
And after a fun & relaxing Saturday night, we had an equally fun & relaxing Sunday morning breakfast...
Homemade cinnamon waffles coated in melted butter + cinnamon & sugar...
= AMAZING "Churro waffles"! SOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!
And we rounded out the holiday weekend with a tradition favorite: Shepard's Pie...topped with...
Nope...not mashed potatoes...
but....
TATER TOTS!
It was HEAVEN ON A PLATE! This may become a St. Patty's tradition from here on out, we all LOVEEEED thisJ hehehehehe
Well, that wraps up our weekend! We'll be back to our 'regularly scheduled healthy routine' tomorrowJ. I had fun sampling TONS of things this weekend without every indulging in TOOOO much of any one thing, which is my favorite way to eat. Then you get to eat everything without feeling stuffed OR deprived. WIN/WIN!Have a good Monday, everyone!
