Crushing hunger + cravings...

Thursday Recap:

Workout:  2 sets arms & legs with 8 pounds

Breakfast:  Pina Colada Smoothie
Katie gave this a thumbs up, tooJ

Snack:  Almond milk coconut yogurt with peaches + unsweetened shredded coconut + cinnamon
So, since the TIU ladies recommended almond/coconut milk yogurt (I guess for avoiding dairy as much as ya can), I thought I'd give this Almond milk version a whirl.

And even mixed with a diced peach and shredded coconut, I had my doubts.  It's, um, not very pretty AT ALL, kind of on the 'watery' side and certainly a unique texture compared to dairy yogurt.  I almost didn't even try it...but after one bite I was SOLD.  So much so that I went and bought enough for next week's 'series schedule' cause I thought it was sooooooooooooo good!
Now, full disclosure:  When I was a kid, my Mom occasionally would buy this Gerber "Vanilla Custard Pudding" (yes, baby food...and she & I were WELL out of the baby stageJ) as a treat and I STILL remember the exact taste of it.  This yogurt's consistency is almost its EXACT twin.  So that could be why I have a nostalgic gravitational pull towards itJ.  Either way, it got a thumbs up from meJ

Lunch:  Leftover Fajita chicken with mashed 1/2 avocado + oven baked corn tortilla chips
There goes that awesome dinner againJ  I have to say the leftovers were even better than the 'first time around'J

Snack:  Wasa crackers + peanut butter & jelly

Dinner:  Zucchini Noodles
Made almost exactly the same as last week (with 1/2 pound of ground turkey + Bove's Roasted Garlic sauce) , but since I had only one zucchini, we tossed in a small handful of wheat pasta to 'fill in the gaps.'  Scott & I are still baffled at how we used to make about FOUR TIMES the amount for dinner and yet we're completely full & satisfied with this portion.

The 5-meals a day has been a revelation.  Try it out if you struggle with hunger/cravings all day.  At this moment, I can say, I've had hardly either of them since starting this series.  At least no strong enough cravings to give me any desire to 'fall off the wagon.'  I think, because you are eating every couple hours and keeping your blood sugar steady, you never feel deprived and slip into that STARVING zone, so you're always able to make more rational choices.  Plus, being prepared with healthy (and DELICIOUS) breakfast/lunches & snacks makes it MUCH easier to reach for the better option.  Fingers crossed to us keep on keepin' on with THATJ

Not that today is going to be too much in the zucchini noodle departmentJ  Scott took the day off so we could have a family day, since I'll be in yoga school all weekend for Mother's DayJ  It's definitely a "Katie-centered" activity (my favs, I must admitJ), and I was so excited I could barely even sleep last night.  ...cause I'm cool like thatJ  I'll fill ya in on all our eats along the way + another round of "Yoga eats" come Monday!

Until then:  Have a FABULOUS weekend & extra special love to all the Moms out there!!J
