Hey everyone! So I said I was going to be back to my regularly scheduled program?? Well, I GUESS someone else had other plansJ hahahahahahhaa....so here I am with Tuesday night's dinner which was about as FUN and OLD SCHOOL as you could get!J
That's right, kids....it was sloppy joe & tater tot night at our house! hehehehehehehe....the only things missing were a cafeteria table, a plastic tray and:
Lunnnnchhhhh lady land!! (Never seen the infamous Chris Farley skit?? Watch it here...we crack up EVERY time!)
And since I came home pretty starving on Tuesday night, I was NOT messin around in the 'simplicity department!' Into the pan went:
- 3/4 pounds ground turkey
- 1 packet Lipton Onion Soup Mix
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
That's right! No muss, no fuss! I browned up the meat, mixed in the rest of the ingredients and then let it simmer till it thickened up in about 8 minutes. DONE!
And OK...I have an 'issue' that I CAN NOT EAT sliced white/wheat bread that is not toasted. Never could. It just tastes raw to me. I was never the kid rollin to school with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Balony, cheese & mustard on an Italian Roll was more my styleJ. However there is ONE (ok...two) time where 'raw' bread comes into play and that's on sloppy joes...
Yes, I JUST. NEED. untoasted, squishy hamburger rolls for sloppy joes. It's the ONLY time it's adequate and allowable.
I'm aware I'm high maintenance a dichotomy.
I'm OK with itJ
These were as saucy & savory as they were easy to throw together. This was another one of those meals that just made me happy. (I mean...who can't with tater tots after all??)
And to round out our "old school night," we even had an old school snack: Popcorn....
That's right...made on the stove top!
We're wild & crazy like thatJ
A drizzle of rosemary olive oil & a 1/4 cup of unpopped kernels and there was enough 'corn to go around for the both of usJ
I always forget why I don't make popcorn more often! It takes .4 seconds, tastes so good & you can experiment with lots of flavorsJ I have a particularly "Halloween-ish" one I want to try SOON! (maybe tonight...maybeJ)
And speaking of Halloween...I've spent the last two nights diligently diving into my new book!
Wohooooooo....I love me some Halloween AND some Ghost Adventures! (one week till their new season starts!!) It's really good so far, especially if you're a fan of the show & their investigations...and I CAN NOT wait to get to the chapter on BOBBY MACKEY'S CRAZY HAUNTED MUSIC WORLD!!!! (ever see those episodes??? If not...do it! They'll scare the bejeebez out of you...and I DON'T say that lightly! Here's a preview.)
Alright...well, I guess I better run for the day! SOOOOOOOO happy it's ALMOSTFRIDAY and the temperture is going to drop into the 40's tonight!! WOHOOOOOOOOOO!! Tomrrow & this weekend looks like PEAK FALL WEATHER! I'm gonna ENJOY IT!
Have a good Thursday, everyone!
