Fair Warning: There are shamelessly more picture of my child on this post then food. It was an 'eventful' food day for her...so I thought I'd shareJ hahahahaha Plus I know this will be my Mom's favorite post of the whole year...
Thursday Recap:
8:00am: Coffee with creamer & cinnamon
10:30am: Breakfast- Celery with peanut butter
Which, in full disclosure, I'm also eating right now. And by eating I mean spilling peanut butter on the keyboard mouse pad. #Mylife
1:00pm: Lunch- Cherries & 2% cheese
And in full 'creature of habit' mode, I'll probably be having this YET again for lunch today. What can I say? I like what I likes and this week I likes me some cherries & cheeseJ
6:00pm: Dinner- Red Robin
OK, so prior to this year I think we had been to Red Robin about twice in a 5 year spam. And yet so far, in 2013, we've celebrated my niece's graduation, as well as her, my sister-in-law, my Mom and now Scott's birthday there...which was what we were there for AGAIN last night. You heard it here, folks: Red Robin is THE place to be in '13..hahahahahaha!J I have now gone with my 3-time repeat champion: the patty melt on a grilled onion bun. (didn't I say 'creature of habit'?? Yes, that apparently extends to Red Robin burgers tooJ)
But my favorite part of Red Robin, 2013...has been realizing that Katie now knows how to work her way through a hummus plateJ
We had spent 2 trips diligently chopping up all of those veggies into bite sized pieces...until girlfriend finally decided to grab the bull by the horns and took matters into her own hands. Whatever you say, KatieJ
And last night, after stranding 4 mini carrots in the hummus pool, she decided she had enough of this 'dipping business' and happily plowed through her cup of 'mus with her handy spoon....
Happy Hummus FaceJ
After burgers and hummus, we came home to slice into Scott's SECOND BIRTHDAY CAKE...although this one came out...ODD...
OK, see...I followed Pioneer Woman's recipe and THOUGHT something might be off when the recipe called for a TON of liquid to only 2 cups of flour. And once we cut into the cake it seemed almost...gelatin-like?? That's the only way I can describe it. It didn't TASTE bad...it just had ZERO similarities to cake!
My ONLY 'accident' was adding 1 teaspoon of baking POWDER and not SODA...but could ONE TEASPOON really make that much of a difference??? Help a girl out here, folks!
And in the meantime, I'm just gonna blame my sous chef...
(please ignore the abnormally large bug bite on her arm. And our excessive amount of festive decor in the background. There's a lot going on thereJ)
Since my girl decided she knew how to climb up on our 'high' chairs this week, I decided now would be time to bring her up to the counter and put her to work!
And despite having to clean up a few more drips & dribbles from the mixing spoon (and preventing her from sneaking any bites of the CAFFEINE-LACED cake batter!), I REALLY don't think I missed any ingredients! Katie needs some more cooking lessons, I gatherJ
Alright...shamelessly showing off my kid ending NOWJ Hope you guys have some great plans for the weekend! Ours seems to be pretty quiet and for that, we are H-A-P-P-Y!J
Oh wait...I lied. Katie, I guess, decided she wanted one more pic on here when she climbed up and is now helping me blog this morning...
And here's her contribution:

zHAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I do believe that mistake could change the outcome. Martha always says that baking is a science and the recipe should be exact. So that's what I'm going to stick with. :-)
